I fully agree with Jim's point of view.
We are the product of a bilingual culture and it should remain that way. Both languages should be taught in the schools.
The problem that needs to be addressed is to make sure children are educated by making school mandatory for all children (poor or rich)at least up to High School.
I am sure Dessalines and Toussaint would have accomplished that if they were here today.
It is so nice to be multilingual; it feels great to communicate with various culture and not feel disconnected.
I still cherish having had the opportunity to have studied latin, english and spanish when I was in secondary school why would french be eliminated as a mandatory language?
